What is Minoxidil?

Minoxidil was the first drug approved for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (hair loss). Before that, minoxidil had been used as vasodilator drug prescribed as oral tablet to treat high blood pressure, with side effects that included hair growth and reversal of male baldness. For the treatment of hair loss, minoxidil is available as a topical solution that is generally either 2% or 5% minoxidil in propylene glycol. The propylene glycol ensures that the applied minoxidil is evenly spread across the affected area and easily absorbed through the skin.

How does Minoxidil work?

Minoxidil topical solution is used to stimulate hair growth in people who are balding. The drug seems to exert its maximum effect at the crown of the head. The exact way that minoxidil works is not known, but it may stimulate hair growth by improving the blood supply to the hair follicles.

Apply 4 sprays to the scalp twice per day directly to the area of hair loss or thinning. Massage into scalp with tips of fingers for several minutes. Wash hands with soap and water after use. Leave on scalp for at least 4 hours, but can be left on indefinitely.

SCALP ROLLER:

Wet hair and apply your favorite anti-thinning topical hair product and massage into areas of concern. Using gentle pressure roll the device over the scalp in one direction starting at the front of the head at the hair line and work your way down the back of the head. Roll over area 5-10 times changing direction.

You should use the roller in all directions – vertical, horizontal and diagonal. Use only once per day and no more than 3 times per week. Redness may occur.

Warnings: Do Not Use the skin roller on any open wounds, active acne, nodular/ pustular rosacea, eczema, sunburn, or abnormal skin disease. Do Not Use if you have sensitive skin.
